Compress a video

Shrink a video file in your browser by lowering the resolution and quality. Free, no signup, and your video is never uploaded.

How it works

  1. Choose a video from your phone or computer.
  2. Pick a resolution and quality. Lower settings make smaller files.
  3. Compress it and compare the sizes.

Questions

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The video is processed by your own browser, on your own device. It is never sent to a server, so it stays private.

How much smaller will it get?

It depends on the video. Dropping from 1080p to 720p at Balanced quality often saves more than half. The result tells you the before and after sizes.

Will it make my video bigger?

Resolution is never increased. If the video is already heavily compressed, the result can occasionally be close to the original size.

How big can the video be?

Up to 500 MB. Everything runs in your browser’s memory, so very large files can be slow or fail on older phones. Shorter clips work best.

Why is the first run slow?

The first time, your browser downloads the video engine (about 10 MB). After that it is cached and starts quickly. Processing speed depends on your device.
